Every Jetta is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, generating 158 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The base S model comes with a standard six-speed manual transmission, while an optional eight-speed automatic is available. In our testing, the last SEL we evaluated, equipped with the automatic transmission, completed the zero-to-60-mph sprint in 7.1 seconds—0.6 seconds faster than its predecessor.
Similarly, our manual-equipped Jetta delivered comparable performance, reaching 100 mph 0.6 seconds sooner than its automatic counterpart. While the chassis prioritizes a quiet and comfortable ride over razor-sharp handling, it still offers an enjoyable driving experience within its capabilities. In essence, the Jetta's "performance" is characterized by its amiable disposition, readily stepping up when needed without sacrificing comfort.
The Jetta boasts standard safety features like Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking, with available options including Blind Spot Monitor and Adaptive Cruise Control.
