As electric vehicles continue to gain traction in the mainstream automotive market, the 2025 Volkswagen ID.Buzz emerges as a promising solution for families seeking capacious EV options. Paying homage to the iconic VW Bus, the ID.Buzz features a retro-inspired design that captures the essence of its predecessor. Available in both rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations, its all-electric powertrain is anticipated to offer a driving range of approximately 260 miles. Equipped with DC fast-charging capabilities, the ID.Buzz can recharge from 10 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes when plugged into a compatible charger. Furthermore, Volkswagen plans to introduce plug-and-charge technology, streamlining the charging process by eliminating the need for external payment methods.

When Will the ID.Buzz Become Available in PA?

Volkswagen has announced that the ID.Buzz is expected to arrive at our Downingtown dealership by fall 2024. In the meantime, you can get a glimpse of the vehicle through these pictures from a sneak peek revealed at the L'oe Show in Pottstown last September.

The ID.Buzz will be built on Volkswagen's Modular Electric Drive (MEB) platform, which is currently utilized in corporate vehicles such as the Audi Q4 e-tron crossover and the VW ID.4 crossover. While Europe will have access to both a commercial and passenger version of the ID.Buzz, the United States will exclusively receive the long-wheelbase passenger variant. The base model will be equipped with a single rear-mounted electric motor, generating 282 horsepower. Additionally, a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive configuration offering 335 horsepower will be available.

What Do We Know So Far?

The 2025 Volkswagen ID.Buzz does not have an official pice yet, but we are assuming it will range in price from $40,000 to $60,000, varying based on the chosen trim level and optional features.

The ID.Buzz is characterized by its spacious and adaptable interior, offering a range of convenient features. The front seats boast adjustable armrests and fold-out tables for rear-seat passengers, while a removable center console enhances flexibility. With three rows of seats accommodate up to seven passengers, with optional second-row captain's chairs reducing capacity to six. Notable standard features include a 10.0-inch digital gauge cluster, customizable ambient lighting, and massaging front seats for added comfort.

For infotainment, the ID.Buzz relies on a prominent 12.9-inch touchscreen integrated into the dashboard, complemented by a standard 10.0-inch digital gauge display. Standard features are expected to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, with the possibility of a rear-seat entertainment system. Additionally, subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot and wireless device charging capabilities are likely to be available.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The ID.Buzz comes equipped with a comprehensive array of standard and optional driver-assistance technologies. Volkswagen has also introduced a memory function for the self-park assist, capable of operating on pre-saved routes. For detailed crash-test results of the ID.Buzz, you can refer to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

Volkswagen provides an above-average limited warranty and below-average powertrain coverage compared to its non-luxury competitors. However, it includes two years or 20,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance. The ID.Buzz's electric components enjoy an extended warranty, covering them for eight years or 100,000 miles.

• Powertrain warranty: Four years or 50,000 miles
• Battery components warranty: Eight years or 100,000 miles
• Complimentary maintenance: Two years or 20,000 miles

Before the 2024 refresh, our recommendation for the base SE model was based on its exceptional value proposition. With the recent updates, this recommendation is even more compelling. Volkswagen has enhanced the Atlas Cross Sport with a wealth of standard features, including heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles, a generous 12-inch infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, wireless charging, and six USB-C ports with fast charging capability.
